From Near-Death to Life-Altering Event: The Story of Linda Dillon
The day Linda Dillon nearly died, her life began. A near-death experience after a severe car crash in December 1984 became a life-altering event for Linda, opening upon not only her own psychic abilities, but the pathway from this world to the next.
In the years that followed, Linda developed her channeling abilities. Today, she is a practicing intuitive and channel, professional lecturer and workshop leader. Over the past decade, she has given some 10,000 readings to a coast-to-coast North American clientele. However, the transformation from health care executive to a channel for the Council of Love wasn’t an easy one for Linda. Beyond the challenge of healing from head and back injuries she suffered as a result of the initial and subsequent car crashes, Linda had to conquer her own fear, doubt and skepticism.
In 1984, Linda was the 33-year-old Director of Health and Social Services Programs for the Ontario Provincial Government. As she sat in the passenger seat of her BMW on that December day, Linda was on track with her career and her life. Then the car hit black ice on an off-ramp, spun out of control and began to flip end-over-end. Linda felt herself slip out of her body. As she hovered over the scene, watching her car turn into a heap of twisted metal, she was aware of an angelic presence, or guide, beside her. Unlike the stories of going into the white light, in that split second Linda found herself filled with a profound sadness and disappointment that her life was ending and she had not yet fulfilled her purpose. She was presented with a choice: to go on to the next life or to return to Earth and complete her mission.
“I decided to complete whatever it was that I was supposed to do, not knowing what “it” was,” Linda recalls. “Then zoop! I was back in my body. About the same time, the car stopped rolling and landed on all four tires.”
A severe concussion, along with lacerations and bruises, left Linda in pain and with near constant dizziness and a loss of her peripheral vision. When traditional treatment did not help, she turned to yoga and meditation. She was finally able to return to work and was coping with lingering symptoms when, in December 1986, Linda was in another auto accident. This time, she was stopped at a traffic light when a young drunk driver slammed into her car. The injuries she sustained put her back at square-one of recovery.
As part of her recuperation, Linda began to meditate three or four times a day. In these meditations, she began to see images, such as gold and green orbs sliding over her body from the top of her head to her feet, and then back to her head again. She felt instantly better. In another session, Linda had the urge to write. Hobbling to the kitchen table, she picked up a pen and a pad of paper. Her hand moved without her brain commanding it or forming words to be written. She made circles and then triangles. Then she saw “Greetings!” scrawled across the pad of paper.
“I was freaking!” Linda remembers. “I was in an altered state from the meditation. So I said, “who are you and what do you want?’” The response was, “Greetings from the Council of Love.”
What ensued were conversations on paper between Linda and the Council of Love, which, she was told, was comprised of archangels, angels, saints and beings who have evolved to pure energy. “They are like God central administrators,” Linda explains with a laugh. “This was a perfect explanation because I was a government bureaucrat!” She asked about the purpose of the Council. The answer was at once simple and profound “To deliver love into the hearts of all beings on the Earth.”
Raised a Catholic, Linda felt comfortable with the concept of angels and saints. But a Council of Love that communicated with her? “I thought, Oh, no. I have finally gone over the edge. I thought my life had disintegrated and this was the final straw. But at the same time, I was not only getting better but filled with this incredible sense of excitement and awe.”
Linda and her two brothers and two sisters had all experienced psychic abilities in the past. She recalls an early morning when she and her brothers and sisters all rushed to call each other, feeling that something was wrong. None of them knew until months later that, at that very moment, their mother had fallen from the gangplank of a sailboat she raced with their father and had been swept out with the tide. As the Dillon siblings frantically called each other, their mother clung to a pier piling, waiting for someone to rescue her.
But never had Linda experienced anything like contact with the Council of Love. Over the course of the next several weeks, she experienced several events which served to confirm that this was truly a supernatural phenomenon and not a hallucination. Then one day after meditation, Linda wrote the words, “We are going to stop writing…” She was heart-broken and suffered a depression that lasted for days. Finally, she went back to the pad of paper on the kitchen table and picked up the pen. Her hand wrote the words to complete the sentence: “…because we want to speak with you.”
Linda began to experience dialogues in her meditations, first with the Archangel Gabriel who taught her to protect herself spiritually while opening herself to the Guides she channeled. While her psychic gifts were developing, Linda also recovered. She was ready to go back to work full-time. Her life and her career were back on track.
Then she was in a third auto accident, this time in December 1987. Luckily, she was not severely injured. While she recovered, Linda worked on her channeling abilities. One day, the Council told her she had to begin channeling for others. They even picked the first person: a chiropractor she knew, but not well. She called him and suggested lunch. At the end of the conversation, she told her story. The chiropractor eagerly agreed to the channeling session. The second person chosen was another man she did not know well, except that he was the husband of a colleague, who had died during the early stages of pregnancy. The man was in a deep depression when Linda contacted him. After the channeling in which he heard from his late wife, the man took control of his life again.
Eventually, Linda did return to work full time, but found her career as a health care executive lacked appeal. A critical report that Linda had issued on a government-funded facility was not acted upon and, as a result, several children died. That prompted Linda to quit her job in July 1990 to channel full-time. A native Canadian, she moved to the States and eventually settled in Arizona. She returned to the health care profession in the early 1990s, but continued her spiritual practice. She launched the first of her workshops in 1991. The basis of the first classes was the six “keys to heaven” given to her by the Council: love, trust, forgiveness, unity, connectedness and balance.
Seventeen years ago, Linda left the healthcare field a second time for a full-time practice as a channel and spiritual teacher. Her workshops over the past year have taken her from California to Florida. She has clients all over the world. Although Linda teaches on a wide variety of topics from healing to creation, she says the core issue and teaching always is the same - worthiness, not only of self but of God. “That is the hardest thing for people, to believe that they worthy of God,” she says.
